ByWhat I’ve found to be the best thing to sell online, has been selling information products. Yes, this may be a beaten down horse as many people realize this, but I need to reiterate that information is king when it comes to making quick cash online.
Why information? Well because it is easy to package, for the most part you can create it yourself, and it can be delivered over the internet extremely fast.
Let’s go over these points so that you can see why selling information products is by far the best thing to sell online:
1. information can be easily packaged in a "Word" document, PDF document, videos and mp3 files.
2. these informational products can be created by yourself, affording you to have a very large profit margin. Unlike buying a product wholesale, and then turning around and selling retail, you actually pay for that product before you can turn a profit.
3. because the large acceptance of downloading products on the internet, delivering products via downloads can be an effective, fast, delivery method for both you and the informational hungry customer that demands their info. now!
So you can see some of the advantages that informational products have over traditional products.
Another hurdle that some see with informational products, is that this information may be able to be found anywhere on the internet.
This is a very valid point, but just as many grocery store registers have small quick impulsive items on each check stands, your customer more than likely won’t be thinking about that when they are already at the cash register. it’s just more convienent for them to get that bubble gum or gossip magazine in the check line that they are in now, than go over to the next line and get it.
The information craze though, has been around longer than you think. If you remember back in the eighties and earlier, there was mail order products that you can buy via regular snail mail.
And although many of the mail order catalogs back in those days sold physical products, you may have seen products pushed that were actually small little booklets of information. Mostly how to stuff if I recall, such as "how to become a mortgage processor" and other booklet’s that sold for $50-$100 dollars.
Let’s also not forget the legal community. Lexus-Nexus has been a provider of data for a long while providing information on people, businesses and other related court cases for attorney’s and paralegals to do their jobs more efficiently.
Don’t forget the credit reporting agencies! As the world suffers from financial letdown, many American’s are suffering a worsening credit reports as people lose jobs, cars and homes. If you had bad credit, how much would it be worth you getting good credit again?
Another good example of information being critical, is the importance place on information for our protective services industries such as local police departments, Federal bureau’s like the F.B.I. and C.I.A. and other law enforement agencies that rely on quick, reliable information to do their job.
So you can see, information is worth what the customer see’s in it. Yes, in the online marketing world, information may be a bit less important than that of national security, and the content may not be up to snuff, but nevertheless, information still remains in my humble opinion, the best thing to sell online.
