One of the best things to sell online are digital reports and ebooks. The problem is, that many that buy these digital items, complain that they are trash, crap, and just plain junky.

Before I get into selling digital reports and ebooks, let me add my two cents in on why ebooks and digital reports get a bad rap.

First off, the leaders of the internet marketing world sell their own ebooks and other digital items claiming that writing your own ebook is “easy” and that you don’t need to be on New York’s Bestseller Lists.

Giving that kind of advice is the part of the issue on why we see so much garage out there. So if you are choosing to create an ebook or report, I would recommend that you do your best and not try to rush yourself and “slap” things together.

Ok, now that is over, let’s first talk about why reports can become the best things to sell online. Creating these short little informational packed reports on just one sub-topic within a larger topic allow many people that are looking for specific information on a particular sub-topic.

For an example, people that are looking for a weight loss plan, may not be interested in gasteric by-pass as a way to lose weight, but using more natural supplements to accomplish the same thing. Both are sub-topics in the weight loss realm, however these are two separate markets for two different customers.

This is why creating short reports are ideal. There good for you, because they are shorter and more focused on one sub-topic which helps your readership concentrate on this one sub-topic that you are discussing.

Reports are also an inexpensive method to build a list of buyers for more products (probably more expensive stuff) down the road. If you start off trying to push a $1000 dollar product, you may not have a whole lot of bites from potential customers.

But if you gradually work them to that point, they build trust in you, which tends to bode well for your branding of yourself, while creating a revenue source for your online business. Why turn away 100 $20 dollar orders

By doing so, the people who want to progress in your information can do so confidently as they know from your previous products that you offer valuable content to them, even if it isn’t expensive.

Of course, you may still get less customers who buy your $1000 dollar product than your $20 dollar product, just for the fact that people may not be able to afford that price just yet. But it does help them, if they wish to continue with buying more of your advance digital products but cannot afford at this time, they may look to save additional funds looking to move closer to that goal of purchasing your more pricier packages.

Many people may not be able to purchase your higher end products right away, but the seed has been planted so to speak. More than likely, if they are going to buy a product about topics that you discuss, they will look to you first before looking elsewhere.
